  Alabama vs. Kentucky For the first time since 1922 Kentucky walked off the field against Alabama not having lost the game. It was only a tie however as the Cats and the Tide came away with a 7-7 tie. Paul Spencer scored the only touchdown for Alabama on a two yard run that was set up by a blocked punt the play before. Kentucky scored its touchdown early in the third quarter. After that both teams drove into enemy territory and attempted field goals but both attempts sailed wide and the game ended all knotted up. Alabama finished the 1939 season with a record of 5-3-1 for Coach Frank Thomas.
