Alabama vs. Virginia Tech For the 1932 Homecoming game 10,000 fans witnessed the Alabama Crimson Tide play the Virginia Tech Gobblers and the Bama fans did not disappoint the hometown fans defeating Tech 9-6. Alabama out gained VA Tech five fold but when the Tide threatened the goal Tech was very stingy. The Gobblers took the early lead in this contest in the second quarter largely due to the fact that John Cain sat out the first half with a nagging injury suffered 3 games earlier. In the second half however Cain came back and provided the spark the Tide needed. After a safety put Bama on the board Alabama got the ball back after a punt and Hilmon Holley scored on an 11 yard run for the winning touchdown. Alabama finished the 1932 season with a record of 8-2 for Coach Frank Thomas.
