  Alabama vs. LSU In this contest, 24 first quarter points were enough to secure Alabama a 31-7 victory on the road in Baton Rouge. Steve Slaon would open the Tide's scoring with his 45 yard, first quarter touchdown pass to Dennis Homan. In the second, Bama would score 17 points on a 2 yard Steve Bowman touchdown run, a 6 yard Sloan touchdown pass to David Ray, and on a 41 yard Ray field goal. Bowman would then visit the end zone again on a 35 yard touchdown run in the third to close the Tide's scoring. The 1965 squad finished 9-1-1, as SEC champions, as national champions, and with an appearence in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
