  Alabama vs. LSU The Crimson Tide traveled into Baton Rouge Louisiana with National Title hopes brewing in their minds and they did not dissapoint defeating the Tigers 31-11. Chris Anderson had 149 yards rushing for the Tide. The game began with both teams trading field goals, LSU with the first and then a 29 yard kick by Michael Proctor tied the game up at 3. Derrick Lassic scored on a one yard touchdown run with 5:49 to play in the first quarter to give Alabama its first lead of the game. After a LSU safety Chris Anderson ran 2 yards for a touchdown to give Bama a 17-5 lead at the half. The second half was dominated by Sherman Williams who had both a 1 yard touchdown run and a 24 yard touchdown run to give the Tide the win. After the game Bama earned a #2 ranking in the AP poll which was the team's best ranking since going into the 1989 Iron Bowl where it was also ranked second nationally. The 1992 squad finished with a record of 13-0, as SEC champions, and as national champions for coach Gene Stallings.
