  Alabama vs. Auburn For the fourth straight time, the Crimson tide not only defeated by shutout arch cross-state rival Auburn by the score of 38-0. The win sent Alabama to the Orange Bowl to face the Oklahoma Sooners. The tone of this game was set on the opening kickoff when Butch Wilson ran it back 92 yards for the score. It was one of the most exciting plays of the season for Alabama. Early in the second quarter Joe Namath scored the second Bama touchdown on a 17 yard run around left end run. Just one minute later, Jimmy Wilson blocked an Auburn punt, and Bill Battle recovered it in the end zone for the touchdown. Alabama led 21-0 at the half. SEC scoring champion Cotton Clark caught a Namath pass from 15 yard out midway through the third quarter for the fourth touchdown in the contest. Tim Davis tacked on another field goal to his impressive record with a 39 yard field goal with 7 minutes remaining in the third quarter. Just seconds into the fourth quarter Joe Namath tossed a 16 yard pass to Richard Williamson to give Alabama its final points of the game. The 1962 squad finished with a record of 10-1, and with a victory in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
