  Alabama vs. Southern California Alabama's defense would lead the way in only allowing 197 yards of total offense to the Trojans in this 24-3 win in the Aloha Bowl. Van Tiffin scored all of the Tide's first half points with his 48 yard field goal in the first. Craig Turner would score Bama's first touchdown on a 1 yard run in the third. Alabama would close the afternoons scoring with a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns. The first came on a 25 yard Mike Shula touchdown pass Clay Whitehurst and on a 14 yard Albert Bell touchdown run. The 1985 squad finished the season with a record of 9-2-1 and with a victory over Southern Cal in the Aloha Bowl for Ray Perkins.
