Alabama vs.Ohio State

  Date: 8/27/1986
  Score: 16-10
Alabama vs. Ohio State This Alabama team began the 1986 campaign with heavy hearts after two teammates were killed in the off-season. George Scruggs died in an automobile accident one week after the A-Day game and Wille Ryles died of a fatal head injury just one week prior to the Kickoff Classic in East Rutherford New Jersey against Ohio State. The Crimson Tide overcame both their emotions and the Buckeyes winning 16-10. Van Tiffin kicked three field goals in the victory and Albert Bell had the only Bama touchdown with a 3 yard run in the fourth quarter. The Tide dedicated their victory to Scruggs and Ryles after the game. The 1986 Crimson Tide finished the season with a record of 10-3 and with a victory in the Sun Bowl in what would be Coach Ray Perkins' last year with Alabama.
