  Alabama vs. Bowling Green Alabama opened what would turn out to be Gene Stallings’s final season as head coach of the Tide with an unimpressive 21-7 win over the Falcons of Bowling Green. For the game, Alabama would visit the end zone in each of the first three quarters. Dennis Riddle would open the Tide's scoring with his 1 yard touchdown plunge in the first. In the second, Warren Foust would hit Marcell West for a 6 yard touchdown pass play. Bama's final touchdown came on a 1 yard Curtis Alexander touchdown run in the third. The 1996 squad finished the season with a record of 10-3 and with a victory in the Outback Bowl in coach Gene Stallings final year as head coach of the Tide.
