Alabama vs.Vanderbilt

  Date: 9/11/1993
  Score: 17-6
Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Even though the score suggests a close game, the Tide rolled over the Commodores 17-6. David Palmer would star for the Tide in this contest. He was responsible for 217 yards receiving (an Alabama record) and both of the Tide's touchdowns (a 14 yard reception from Jay Barker in the first, and a 63 yard reception from Barker in the second). Michael Proctor would also hit a 29 yard field goal in the third. Sherman Williams would also rush for 120 yards in the game, and the defense was stellar in only allowing 229 yards of total offense to Vandy all afternoon. The 1993 squad finished with a record of 9-3-1 and with a victory in the Gator Bowl for coach Gene Stallings; however, as a result of NCAA violations, Alabama was forced to forfeit a number of games giving Bama an official record of 1-12 for the 1993 season.
