  Alabama vs. Louisiana Tech Coming off two convincing wins the Tide was riding high until Louisiana Tech came to Birmingham. Alabama was simply outplayed and lost a heartbreaker 29-28. Scoring for Alabama stared in the second quarter on a 21 yard Chris Kemp field goal. The Tide came into the second half ready to play with Shaun Alexander scoring two touchdowns. The first score came on a 76 yard kickoff return and the second came on a 30 yard run. Alabama added the two point conversion and took the lead 18-15 heading into the final quarter. Alexander added his third touchdown of the game on a 14 yard run midway through the quarter giving Bama a 3 point lead. Chris Kemp added on a field goal to extend that lead to six. However with just :02 remaining in the game, Tech scored a touchdown on a 28 yard pass play to tie the game at 28, and the extra point sealed it. The 1999 squad finished the season with a 10-3 record, as SEC champions, and with an appearence in the Orange Bowl for coach Mike Dubose.
