  Alabama vs. Georgia The Tide opened the 1964 season by defeating the Bulldogs of Georgia by a score of 31-3. Hudson Harris would score Bama's first points with his 5 yard touchdown run in the first, and in the second, Joe Namath would visit the end zone on an 8 yard touchdown run. After a 27 yard David Ray field goal to open the third, Namath would score Bama's final pair of touchdowns on a 1 yard run in the third and on a 5 yard run in the fourth. For his performance, Namath was named Back of the Week in the nation after his 222 yard and 3 rushing touchdown performance. Not to be outdone, the defense was stellar in only allowing 165 yard of total offense to the Bulldogs on this afternoon. The 1964 squad finished 10-1, as SEC champions, as national champions, and with an appearence in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
