  Alabama vs. Mississippi A tough Tide squad defeated the Rebels in Jackson by a score of 59-35. Bama jumped out to an early lead by scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter. The first was a 36 yard rush by Major Ogilvie (he would add another rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter), followed by a 34 yard touchdown pass from Don Jacobs to Bart Krout. Joe Jones would then add a 28 yard rush to conclude Bama's first quarter scoring. Linne Patrick opened the scoring in the second with a 24 yard touchdown run. Also adding scores for the Tide were Billy Jackson (6 yard run in the third), Joe Carter (4 yard run in the third), and finishing off the scoring was Walter Lewis with a 22 yard run in the fourth. As a team, Bama rushed for over 450 yards and had 7 touchdowns on the ground. The 1980 squad finished the season with a record of 10-2 and with a victory in the Cotton Bowl for Coach Bryant.
