  Alabama vs. Georgia After starting the game off slow the Crimson Tide came back to defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 32-7 in the opening game of the 1963 season. Joe Namath hooked up with Charlie Stephens on a 47 yard pass in the first quarter to score the first Bama points of the time which tied the game at 7 after the first quarter. A 37 yard field goal in the second quarter made it a 10-7 lead for Alabama; a lead they would never give up. Mike Fracchia score the next two touchdowns of the game. The first a 5 yard run and the second a 1 yard dive. The Bama defense recorded a safety and Jack Hurlbut connected with Jimmy Dill on a 41 yard pass to complete the scoring for the day. The 1963 squad finished with a record of 9-2 with a victory in the Sugar Bowl over Mississippi for Coach Bryant.
