  Alabama vs. Southern Mississippi Alabama's defense dominated the Golden Eagles in only allowing 145 yards of total offense and no touchdowns in this 20-7 Alabama victory. Ahmaad Galloway would open the scoring for the Tide on a 6 yard touchdown run in the first, and Brodie Croyle would score on an 11 yard touchdown run in the second. Bama's final points came in the fourth on a pair of Brian Bostick field goals (39 and 29 yards). Southern's only points came in the third when Michael Boley would run back a Croyle interception 54 yards for a touchdown. The 2002 squad would finish the season with a record of 10-3 for coach Dennis Franchione in his final season at the Capstone.
