  Alabama vs. Kentucky Alabama's defense was able to hold the Wildcats to only 140 yards of total offense in this 35-0 shutout victory. The Tide was able to score a pair of first quarter touchdowns on a 7 yard Terry Davis touchdown pass to Wayne Wheeler and on a 3 yard Davis touchdown run. After a scoreless second, Steve Bisceglia would score on a 3 yard touchdown reception in the third and on a 9 yard touchdown run in the fourth. Gary Rutledge would then throw a 48 yard touchdown pass to Ralph Stokes to close Bama's scoring for the afternoon. The 1972 squad would finish with a record of 10-2, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Cotton Bowl for Coach Bryant.
