  Alabama vs. Kentucky Alabama's defense dominated the Wildcats (allowing only 125 yards of total offense) in leading the Tide to a 15-3 victory. Philip Doyle would score all of Bama's points through the fourth with field goals of 22, 35, and 23 yards. The Tide would finally visit the end zone in the fourth on a 1 yard Marvin Houston touchdown plunge. The 1989 squad finished with a record of 10-2, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Sugar Bowl in Coach Curry's final season at the Capstone.
