  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt This 44-10 victory over Vandy marked the Tide's first victory in Tuscaloosa since the 1986 season, and this was a result of all of the 1987 home games being played at Legion Field while Bryant-Denny was being expanded. Bama opened their scoring with a first quarter Gene Jelks punt return for a touchdown (37 yards). In the second, Bobby Humphrey would score a touchdown on a 7 yard run followed with a pair of Philip Doyle field goals (49 and 39 yards). In the third, Humphrey would find the end zone again on a 1 yard run. The Tide closed their scoring in the fourth with a 44 yard Doyle field goal, a 3 yard Jeff Dunn touchdown pass to Howard Cross, and with a 26 yard Murry Hill touchdown run. The 1988 squad would finish with a record of 9-3 and with a victory in the Sun Bowl for Coach Curry.
