  Alabama vs. Tulane Alabama got their first win of the 1965 season with a 27-0 victory over the Green Wave in Mobile. After David Ray hit a 37 yard field goal in the first, Leslie Kelley would score on a 1 yard touchdown run. Steve Sloan would then throw a pair of touchdown passes. The first touchdown was a 29 yard pass to Tommy Tolleson in the second, and the second was a 15 yard pass to Dickey Thompson in the third. Ray would then close the Tide's scoring with his 25 yard field goal in the fourth. The 1965 squad finished 9-1-1, as SEC champions, as national champions, and with an appearance in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
