  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Twenty-one first quarter points were enough to secure a 42-14 win over the Commodores for the Tide. Bama would score a trio of touchdowns in the first quarter on a 52 yard Jack O'Rear touchdown run, and on a pair of 8 yard Johnny Lee Davis touchdown runs. In the second, Jeff Rutledge would throw a 27 yard touchdown pass to Ozzie Newsome. In the second half, Calvin Culliver would score on a 2 yard touchdown run in the third, and Pete Cavan would score on a 9 yard touchdown reception from Rutledge in the fourth. For the game, Bama would rush for 326 yards and hold Vandy to 177 yards of total offense. The 1976 squad finished the season with a record of 9-3 along with a victory in the Liberty Bowl for Coach Bryant.
