  Alabama vs. Howard The 1936 season kicked off on Campus against Howard and the Crimson Tide were victorious 26-0. This game also marked the beginning of Paul "Bear" Bryant's coaching career. Bryant was on staff as an assistant coach where we would remain through the 1939 season. Joe Kilgrow scored the first points of the game in the second quarter on a 5 yard run. Alabama scored twice in the third quarter, both off of 27 yard end runs by Joe Riley and one final time in the fourth quarter on a Kilgrow 1 yard line plunge. The 1936 squad finished the season 8-0-1 for Coach Frank Thomas.
