  Alabama vs. Tulane Turnovers killed the Crimson Tide in this contest in New Orleans as the Tide lost 3 interceptions and one fumble which led to a crushing 21-20 loss to conference rival Tulane. Alabama scored first however on a 1 yard run from Norwood Hodges which capped a 44 yard drive with just 53 seconds remaining in the half giving Alabama a 6-0 lead. However in the next 50 seconds the Green Wave would manage 2 touchdowns. The first off coming on a 103 yard kickoff return and the second coming one play after recovering a fumble. Just after the second half started Bama gave up a 50 yard interception return for a touchdown. The two other Tide touchdowns came off of another Norwood Hodges touchdown and the final score came off of a 6 yard dive by Bill Cadenhead. The 1947 squad finished the season 8-3 with an appearance in the Sugar Bowl for Harold "Red" Drew in his first season at the Capstone.
