  Alabama vs. Southern Mississippi The Eagles were absolutely no match for the Tide and were blown-out by a score of 63-14 in Tuscaloosa. In this contest, Bama gained 569 yards of total offense. In the first, Scott Hunter would hit Pete Jilleba for a 5 yard touchdown reception and Richard Ciemny would hit a 25 yard field goal. In the second quarter, Bama would explode and score four touchdowns on an 11 yard George Ranger run, a 1 yard Hunter run, a 6 yard Johnny Musso run, and on a 9 yard Bubba Sawyer run. The Tide would continue to lay it on the Eagles by scoring a pair of touchdowns in each of the final two quarters. In the third, touchdowns were scored on a 2 yard Musso run and on a 1 yard Neb Hayden run. In the fourth, Hayden would visit the end zone again on a 4 yard run and Benny Rippetoe would close the Tide's scoring with his 4 yard touchdown run. The 1969 squad would finish the season with a record of 6-5 along with an appearance in the Liberty Bowl for Coach Bryant.
