  Alabama vs. Southern Mississippi In what was Alabama's last home game ever played in Mobile's Ladd Stadium; the Tide defeated the Golden Eagles by a score of 17-14. In the first, Ed Morgan would score on a 9 yard touchdown run. Southern would then go on to take a 14-7 lead into the fourth before Bama would score 10 fourth quarter points to win the game. In the fourth, Oran Buck would hit a 19 yard field goal, and Scott Hunter would throw the 30 yard, game-winning touchdown pass to George Ranger to close the game. The 1968 squad finished the season with a record of 8-3 along with an appearance in the Gator Bowl for Coach Bryant.
