Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Just one week removed from the Tide's 52-0 rout of the Southern Mississippi, Alabama welcomed the always-pesky Vanderbilt team. Alabama dominated most of the game and came away with the 23-10 victory. Calvin Culliver started the scoring off early in the first quarter scoring on an 85 yard rush. Fred Berrey tacked on a 36 yard field goal in the second quarter to give Bama a 10-3 half time lead. In the third Russ Schamun scored on a 14 yard Richard Todd pass and Berrey connected on his second field goal of the game from 42 yards out. In the final quarter Danny Ridgeway connected on a 27 yard field goal of his own. Vanderbilt would attempt a comeback scoring a late touchdown but by then it was far too late to finish the comeback. The 1974 squad finished the season with a record of 11-1, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
