  Alabama vs. Tulane Alabama opened the 1993 season as defending national champions by defeating the Green Wave 31-17. In the first, the Tide would score touchdowns on a 1 yard Sherman Williams run and on a 9 yard Chris Anderson run. In the second, both Anderson and Williams would visit the end zone again on respective runs of 5 and 4 yards. Michael Proctor would close Bama's scoring for the afternoon with his 25 yard field goal in the third. The 1993 squad finished with a record of 9-3-1 and with a victory in the Gator Bowl for coach Gene Stallings; however, as a result of NCAA violations, Alabama was forced to forfeit a number of games giving Bama an official record of 1-12 for the 1993 season.
