  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Alabama opened the run for the 1992 national championship with this 25-8 victory over Vandy. In the first, Alabama could only manage a trio of Michael Proctor field goals (46, 43, and 42 yards). The Tide would finally visit the end zone in the second on a 4 yard Derrick Lassic touchdown run. After being held scoreless in the third, Proctor would hit a 32 yard field goal, and Michael Rogers would run back an interception 36 yards for a touchdown in the fourth. The 1992 squad finished with a record of 13-0, as SEC champions, and as national champions for coach Gene Stallings.
