  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt The game was close in almost every statistical category except for the final score. Alabama dominated the scoring on this afternoon with a 42-10 victory. Bobby Humphrey scored the first touchdown for the tide on the day with a 3 yard run. Alabama also added the two-point conversion (a pass from Mike Shula to Humphrey). Humphrey would also add a 30 yard touchdown run later in the game. Other Bama touchdowns were made by a 75 yard run by Gene Jelks, a seven yard run by Marco Battle, and a blocked punt my Derrick Thomas which he ran back 44 yards. The 1986 Crimson Tide finished the season with a record of 10-3 and with a victory in the Sun Bowl in what would be Coach Ray Perkins' last year with Alabama.
