  Alabama vs. Southern Mississippi After being down 17-3 at halftime Alabama stormed back in the second quarter holding Southern Mississippi to just a field goal to defeat the Eagles 24-20. Michael Proctor started the Tide's scoring in the second quarter with a long 45 yard kick and the Tide went into the locker room down 17-3. Curtis Brown scored the first touchdown for the Tide with a 9 yard pass from Brian Burgdorf. These same two connected again later in the third quarter this time for a 27 yard strike to tie the game at 17. After a USM field goal put the Eagles on top by 3 the Tide took over with just under 3 minutes to play in the game. With just 17 seconds left to play Brian Burgdorf connected with Toderick Malone on a 35 yard play to give the tide the win. The 1995 squad finished the season with an 8-3 record for coach Gene Stallings.
