In the first ever Southeastern Conference game played by Alabama, the Crimson Tide and Ole Miss battle to a 0-0 tie at Legion Field in Birmingham. Despite the even score with the Missis-sippians, Alabama goes on to win the first ever Southeastern Conference Championship. After the tie, head coach Frank Thomas shows he was none too happy with the performance when he ordered "some savage practices before next Saturday's game with Miss. State." One bright spot in the tie was the play of Dixie Howell, who rushed for 133 yards and completed four passes for 61 more.
